Microsoft has unveiled Microsoft 365 Copilot, an AI-powered assistant designed to boost productivity, creativity, and collaboration in the workplace. The next-generation AI tool integrates large language models (LLMs) with data from the Microsoft Graph and Microsoft 365 apps, providing users with a powerful productivity tool.
Microsoft 365 Copilot is embedded within popular apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. The company also introduced Business Chat, a new feature that works across LLMs, Microsoft 365 apps, and users’ data such as emails, calendars, chats, and contacts to generate content based on natural language prompts.
The AI assistant aims to transform work in three main ways:
Unleash creativity: Copilot helps users generate first drafts in Word, create professional presentations in PowerPoint, and analyze trends in Excel with ease.
Unlock productivity: Copilot streamlines tasks such as summarizing email threads and drafting replies in Outlook, summarizing meeting discussions and suggesting action items in Teams, and automating repetitive tasks with Power Platform.
Uplevel skills: By using natural language, Copilot unlocks the full potential of Microsoft 365, enabling users to access thousands of commands and learn new skills quickly.
The Copilot System offers an enterprise-ready AI solution by combining LLMs, Microsoft 365 apps, and users’ business data securely and privately. Microsoft is testing Copilot with a small group of customers and plans to expand its availability soon.
