Apple has rolled out the developer beta of iOS 16.4 today, which gives a sneak peek of the new emoji that will be coming to iPhones soon. Emojipedia has shared a detailed look at the new emoji set, which was approved by Unicode last year.
The new emoji include a shaking face, a pink heart with two stars, two pushing hands, a melting face, a biting lip and more. There are also new skin tone variations for hand gestures and couples.
According to Emojipedia, these new emoji are part of Unicode 15.0, which adds 37 new emoji characters and 112 skin tone variants. Some of the other notable additions are a troll, an x-ray vision face, coral and beans.
The new emoji are expected to be available for all users in March or April this year, along with other features and bug fixes in iOS 16.4.
iOS 16.4 is a major update that brings several improvements and changes to Safari browser, Keyboard app, Podcasts app, Apple Music app and more.
Some of the highlights of iOS 16.4 are:
- Safari web apps can now access push notifications and home screen badges
- Third-party browsers can now show a user interface for adding websites to home screen
- Keyboard app supports new Unicode 15.0 Emoji
- Podcasts app allows users to create custom playlists
- Apple Music app adds spatial audio support for Dolby Atmos music
- Always-on Display shows battery consumption stats and Focus changes
- New Shortcut settings allow users to disable confirmation before running shortcuts from Siri or widgets
- New Home app architecture reintroduced for faster performance
iOS 16.4 also adds a new “5G Standalone” feature that can deliver extremely fast speeds up to 3Gbps on compatible devices and carriers.
